Mindful Messaging is an easy way to incorporate Spiritual Practice into your daily life with simplicity.
I used to frequently notice that while dealing with my e-mail inbox I would feel a general sense of anxiety or sense a mild lack of ease within. Â At times that feeling would escalate into full blown panic.
Since engaging in regular spiritual practice, I’ve noticed that any overall sense of discomfort in all aspects of my life has decreased, substantially. Â However, utilizing technology seems to be one area of my life where I find that my discomfort meter can quickly rise without me even realizing it is happening at the time.
In order to prevent the crazy, chaotic, and cramped feeling that sometimes comes with attacking a full inbox, I have started bringing mindfulness to my messaging process.
Before I even open up my e-mail program, I take a few minutes in Remembrance. Once I feel connected in my heart, I load up the software. Then, while I clear messages, I pause to call The Name frequently.
I find that processing my e-mail is not only much more enjoyable this way, but I’m also much more efficient. Graceful responses to somewhat difficult messages seem to roll right off of my fingertips and I feel peace after hitting send!
I also notice that I’m able to complete tasks that are masquerading as e-mail messages with speed and ease. The whole process of clearing out my inbox becomes something I even look forward to!
Next time you’re faced with an overflowing e-mail inbox, or even just a few messages that need your attention, give this approach a try. Â It can be as simple as doing Remembrance for a few minutes before and after you process messages. Or you can call The Name after you send or file each message.
Bringing mindfulness into a technology process that sometimes gets me riled up has been really helpful. I hope you’ll find some benefit from it as well.
